About

Lady Musgrave Island & Lagoon is a true coral cay with a pristine 1000 acre coral lagoon which is without a doubt the most unique coral cay & lagoon on the entire Great Barrier Reef.

Lady Musgrave Island is commonly known as the “Jewel in the Crown of the Great Barrier Reef.” Lady Musgrave Island is only 32 nautical miles from the Town of 1770 and is the second southern most Island on the Great Barrier Reef.

Lady Musgrave Island (coral cay) is an unspoiled island paradise abundant in pisonia forests and bird life. The island covers an area of 14 hectares and rests on the edge of a sparkling coral lagoon. Home to over 1300 varieties of brilliantly coloured marine fish and 350 species of both hard and soft corals.

The Spirit of 1770

The tour boat, the Spirit of 1770, a purpose-built 22 metre high-speed catamaran departs the Town of 1770 marina at 8am and returns at approximately 5.30pm daily. A shuttle bus service is available from Bundaberg to the Town of 1770 return.

The “Spirit of 1770” enters the calm waters of the coral lagoon and moors along side “Reef Sanctuary” our floating pontoon, only 300 metres from the island. Step off the Spirit of 1770 & on to the pontoon, step off the pontoon & on the island, step off the pontoon and into the protected pristine waters of the coral lagoon to explore the wonders of a living reef eco-system and the colorful Marine life – all in one great Day.
